A few weeks ago I came across the SHORTWAVEMUSIC blog. Run by Myke Weiskopf, the blog is dedicated to music and/or musical noise intercepted via shortwave radio. These musical recordings feature a bit of noise, hum, drift & interference. But that's exactly what makes them so haunting. SoI decided to use shortwave recordings as the basis for this new mix. I used quite a few clips from the SHORTWAVEMUSIC blog in this new mix. The rest of the music is just some stuff I came across that I thought would work well with the shortwave feel. Filastine - DJ Set (MP3)

While on the DJ /Rupture tip... Rupture's label Soot Records will be releasing a full album from Filastine. Filastine is definitely hoisting the world-music-mash-up flag high. His mixset sounds like Rupture's jetsetting cousin just touched down after crate digging through the world's most exotic bazars. Oodles of exotic riddims and other culture melodies.
